GRANDMA K.A.R.E.S., Inc came into being in 2003 when Louise realized there were kinship-caregivers in New Jersey and beyond who could use her particular brand of expertise --- that of having walked in their shoes. Louise has been raising children for over 64 years --- first with her own five children, three beautiful step daughters and other family friends.
She then raised six of her grandchildren, and is still raising a special needs grandson who was 46 years old in May!
5.8 Million children are being raised by someone other than their parents, according to the latest census figures. (We will update you as soon as we have scrutinized the 2020 figures!)
GRANDMA K.A.R.E.S. is a "support system" for those forgotten angels who have altered their own lives to care for a relative's child or children, such as grandparents raising their grandchildren. This also may include aunts, uncles, siblings, resource parents and other relatives.
If you are raising a grandchild, nephew, niece, cousin, sibling, family friend or foster child, Grandma K.A.R.E.S. is here to provide "kinship-advocacy, resources, education, and moral and spiritual support.
